Danger Looms as Adimadim Residents Rely on River by a Cemetery for Drinking Water

A severe water crisis in the Ayensuano village of Adimadim in the Suhum District has left thousands of residents to rely on the only river in the community which is close to the cemetery for their source of drinking water.

The Ghmailonline.com’s Philemon Ashirifie Offei says residence are struggling to find alternative sources of water after years of relying on contaminated river which is just inches away to the cemetery.

Local health officials have warned of a heightened risk of waterborne disease which have already manifested in the community and are urging residents to take precautions.

In an audience granted to ghmailonline.com, Madam Anda Issahaku a resident at Adimadim lamented, “we are extremely in need of support as we can’t afford expensive bottled and sachet water and the contaminated river is making us sick”.

A 34-year-old farmer, Kofi Afrim pleaded with government and other donor agencies to come to their aid to avoid a catastrophic outcome.
