According to firefighters, investigations are underway to determine the cause of the fire outbreak, but preliminary report by witnesses say a gas cylinder used by one of the students to cook at the dormitory got out of control and quickly escalated to other hostels.

The National Disaster and Management Organization are mobilizing relief items for the affected students and appealing to the District Assembly and other donor agencies to come to their aid.
