Mepe, Ghana – The Member of Parliament for North Tongu, Honorable Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa on Saturday donated essential medical supplies and equipment worth over $1.2 million to the Mepe Health Center.
According to the National Democratic Congress legislature, the donation which coincided with his birthday celebration was in fulfilment of a promise he made to the “amazing people of Mepe”.
The 40-Foot-Shipping-Container of Medical Equipment and Supplies include Anaestisia Machines, ECG/EKG, Ultrasound, Endoscopy Tower, X-Ray Machine, Infant Incubators, Infant Warmers, Autoclaves, Defibrillators, Lab Freezer, CPAP, Labour/Delivery Beds, OR Light, Suction Machines, Patient Monitor, Oxygen System, Pulse Oximeters, Surgery Tables, refrigerator for storing vaccines, wheelchairs, Sphygmomanometer and many more.
According to Mr. Okudzeto Ablakwa, the donation was made in collaboration with SOS International Headquarters in the United States of America.
The North Tongu MP expressed his profound gratitude to his collaborators among which include the SOS group, Citi FM Foundation and the Ghana Chamber of Mines for sponsoring the physical construction of the health center.
It will be recalled that, Citi FM Foundation and the Ghana Chamber of Mines constructed the Mepe Health Center in response to a looming health crisis after the VRA’s devastating spillage from the Akosombo and Kpong Dams last year left Mepe and its adjoining communities with emergency medical needs.
