The National Petroleum Authority (NPA) has responded to a complaint by Ghanaian musician Fameye regarding contamination of fuel with water into his car tank.
Fameye, on March 15, took to twitter to express his dissatisfaction about the horrible service he received from a fuel station which has ruined his Honda pilot touring 2019 model.
So few days ago ,I go buy fuel for one fuel station ,700 cedis,the rest is heart breaking They filled my tank with water mixed with petrol as I’m talking to you now my car Honda pilot touring 2019 model is spoilt 😢 Spent 7k already still not working!!! What do I do?

In an interview with TV3, the musician, whose real name is Peter Bozah, expounded on his ordeal narrating “I had a show at Kumasi on the 12th of March so on Saturday, I had wanted to go and fill my tank so that at midnight, I move with my team because I drive everywhere. So I realized like five minutes after I left [the filling station] it started jerking, but I’m don’t know too much about cars so I was wondering why. So I continued driving until the car stopped at a roundabout”.
Fameye also says he has been compensated with GHc 25,000 for damages after the fuel station incident.
In a statement copied to Peacefmonline, the NPA has expressed disappointment in the musician stating he has refused to assist the Authority in investigating the incident.

According to the Authority, Fameye and his management team have declined to reveal the name and location of the fuel station that filled his car with water.
“The news that music artiste, Peter Bozah alias Fameye, has received GHS25000 compensation from an unnamed Oil Marketing Company (OMC) for allegedly selling him fuel contaminated with water came to the National Petroleum Authority(NPA) as a surprise…with NPA, there is a directorate, Quality Assurance, which is in charge of investigating the purity and integrity of petroleum products in Ghana”, the statement said.
The NPA is calling on the musician to cooperate with them to investigate the case.
“We wish to state categorically that the refusal of Fameye and his Management Team to disclose the name and location of the retail outlet and OMC in question is a concern to the reguǫator of the industry. The NPA wishes to reiterate that its doors are still open to thoroughly investigate the case and conduct the needed investigation, provided that Fameye and his Management team cooperate with us.”
