Her comedy skits caught many eyes on TikTok when she started a few years ago. By the time she clocked one million followers her account got verified.

Speaking in an interview with Naa Ashorkor on Asaase Radio’s Between Hours show, the social media influencer said that she started making more TikTok videos during the lockdown period as a result of COVID.

The content creator said she is looking forward to more opportunities because “I won’t be only known as the TikTok girl.”

How to create good content

“New users need to ask themselves what they want to do with the platform whether comedy, cooking show, fashion or for motivational purposes because that can help you navigate the app well,” Offei advised.

“When I started TikTok I used to dance, but I realised it wasn’t for me, so I switched to facial expressions. I added that to my acting skills and later moved to lip syncing with Nigerian sounds like the Yoruba and Igbo language although I don’t speak or understand the language,” she added.

“You need a good phone whether iPhone or Android and good lighting, it could be ring light or sunlight,” she said.

How to get your account popular

“Use trending sounds to get popular. You can also use original sounds but with that it’s difficult for you to get your videos popular. You need to be unique and do more videos and keep your account active.”

She advised young creators to be patient when they post videos. “When your videos don’t blow immediately you need not worry, it could blow with time.”
Monetising TikTok

Touching on possible ways to generate revenue with the service, she said: “I didn’t know TikTok was a money making machine. I didn’t even know that people make money by making videos.”

“There were a lot of things I didn’t know prior to COVID, as time went on I knew I had to take it seriously, and take it to the next level because I knew I had large numbers without making money so I had to speed up my game.

“People have a perception that if they do a video with me they will trend, but that’s not accurate, you need to start yourself. I can help you, but not necessarily get you to the top, you need to think creatively” Offei said.
