Nollywood actor, Junior Pope Odonwodo popularly called, Jnr Pope has tragically died following a boat accident while returning from a movie set.
According to Nigeria’s Vanguard Nigeria, the actor died in the afternoon, while filming in Asaba, the Delta State capital during a boat trip.
The boat capsized and he alongside two other yet to be identified actors got drowned.
His body was recovered and rushed to the hospital, where he was confirmed dead.
The Delta State Chairman of Actors Guild of Nigeria, AGN, Emma Onyemeziem had earlier confirmed to Vanguard that the corpse had been deposited in the morgue.
Twist
However, in a dramatic turn of events, it later emerged that the actor is alive. In an updated story by Vanguard, it mentioned that when the body of the actor was taken to the morgue, the mortuary attendant confirmed there was still m alive so he was rushed to the hospital where he still receiving treatment.
The above information is said to have been confirmed by Emeka Rollas, President of the Acting Guild of Nigeria. he wrote on his Instagram page, “What God cannot do doesn’t exist”.
Confusion
While his post is expected to calm down fans of the actor, it appears it has rather increased their anxieties considering that some of his colleagues including Toyin Abraham posted on X to confirm the unfortunate incident.
